Handwoven in Bali, this Ikat accent blanket is crafted with beautiful colors of pink, marigold, and auburn.
The term 'ikat' comes from the Malay word 'mengikat', meaning to tie or to bind. This refers to the tie-dyeing method used to give these textiles their unique vibrancy of color and design. The traditional way of weaving Ikat is on a back-strap loom.
The unique threads are produced by tying off small sections of the threads before the dying process. Small pieces of plastic or natural materials are used to wrap the threads to keep the dye out of specific areas. They are then submerged into the dye bath. When the threads are dry the wrappings are removed. As the loom is readied, it is then woven into beautiful cloth.
It can easily be used as a throw or bed blanket for a twin bed.
